A TRADE ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN SERVICE

CARIBBEAN

CASE STUDY: SERVICES GO GLOBAL CARIBBEAN

An initial version of GATEWAY to Trade was developed and rolled out in the Caribbean under the name, Services Go Global.
SGG was an initiative of the Caribbean Network of Service Coalitions (CNSC).

The CNSC had noted a common challenge being faced by the coalitions of services industries (CSIs) in the region – “how best to support services firms in enhancing their international competitiveness and in achieving success in the international marketplace”.  The network determined that an export-readiness programme, tailored specifically for service providers, was needed. Consequently, with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Caribbean Export Development Agency, the new export training programme, SERVICES Go Global was developed by Global Links Network amalgamating decades of services export readiness training conducted across the world.

Over 30 pre-qualified, regional trainers and representatives from the ten national Coalitions of Service Industries (Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago) participated in the SERVICES Go Global (SGG) Training of Trainers session held in Barbados in September, 2014. These certified trainers, through the ten Coalitions of Service Industries (CSIs), subsequently delivered training to service providers in their respective countries. To date, hundreds of service providers across the Caribbean have been trained and dozens supported in the development of export plans.
